Altus Area Spay and Neuter Program

AASNIP

Since it started in 2016, the Altus Area Spay Neuter Incentive Program [AASNIP] has provided hundreds of subsidized or free surgeries to animals in the local community.

Animals are taken to the OK Humane Place, a clinic in Oklahoma City that offers very affordable spay and neuter services.

AAWA will continue this program until we are able to offer local low cost spay/neuter services to pet owners in SW Oklahoma.

If you want to take advantage of this amazing program, check available dates below.  Please contact us

Guidelines for Spay/Neuter Services

PREPARING PET  FOR SURGERY DAY:

  1. Pet can have nothing to eat after midnight the night before.  Water is fine.

  2. Make sure your pet has had time to poop/potty before arriving at Expo Center.

  3. Arrive at the Expo Center (near Rodeo Arena, behind Burger King) NO LATER THAN 6:30 am. (**All runs leave at 7:00 am.)

  4. Leave your pet in the vehicle until all paperwork and check-in is complete.

  5. CRATES -We prefer you use your own crates, but we have a limited number of crates to loan out.  **Please request a crate to borrow prior to showing up that morning.  Only Thoroughly Cleaned Plastic Crates may be used.  Always make sure your crates are tagged with your name and phone #. We do provide tags if needed.

  6. Sign ALL necessary paperwork before leaving your pet.

  7. Animals come back the same day...please check the AASNIP or AAWA Facebook page for accurate arrival time at the Expo Center.  Depending on the number of pets, it is between 5 - 6:30 pm.

Note: All pet owners will have to sign a release that AASNIP and AAWA are not responsible for your dog or cat.

Reminder:

  • If your pet does not have a rabies certificate from a certified vet, then your animal will be required to have a rabies shot at the time of service at no additional cost to you.

  • We will need a copy of the original certificate from your vet if your animals have a rabies shot.  Tags won't work.

  • We do not accept Atwood's or any other shots.

PLEASE NOTE...

  • WE DO NOT DECLAW CATS OR CROP DOG EARS ON OUR RUNS!  If you are wanting this done, please contact your local vet.

  • No animal will be sent home with pain medicine.  They are given pain med before they leave clinic.

  • When animals come back, YOU are responsible for seeking a vet, if your dog or cat needs emergency care or contacting OK Humane Place Spay Neuter Clinic

       405-947-7729 for assistance.

  • If you send your female pet on our run and she is PREGNANT, she will still be spayed.
